Now am I being ripped off?

I love shopping in Singapore. You know, like you don't have to bargain. And even if you do, you will probably just save yourself enough money to get a candy bar. I hate bargaining. It is like a test to how stupid you are. You know the other person is most likely going to make big bucks out of you and yet you stood there hassle over a few bucks and still ended up being ripped off. Tough.

The weekend trip to Bangkok make me realised that I dont' compromise that easily. If I offered 100 baht to buy your t-shirt, 100 babt is MY benchmark. And if you can't match that mark, I will walk away, because seriously even after twenty years without your t-shirt, I'm still alive, so it goes to show that I don't need it. That's my policy. I don't want to spend the rest of my holidays beating up myself because I had been ripped off big time.

And maybe because it is my policy, I ended up not buying as many things as people would imagine me to buy. I was told many times that things in Bangkok are bloody cheap. Like you know, filthy cheap. But hey, that's such an over-statement. Maybe because I went with such an expectation, I'm disappointed. Things are cheaper, yes. But not like they are so cheap that I would want to drag them in my luggages and risk having to pay the extra charges that the airlines will demand. Hell no.

So I ended up spending most of my money on food. But food were not that cheap either. Like a meal at the roadside non-aircon (come on you will need the aircon when the temperature is soaring like a 36 degree or more) eating place set you back for about 25-30 SGD for 2. That's not my definition of cheap. Cheap is when I pay about 10 SGD for a good, satisfying meal in Hong Kong. Cheap is when I am paying a good 1000SGD for a Gucci bag on sale.

Your cheap is not my cheap.
